I am a group therapy advocate. It is the best form of therapy. Group therapy helps you realize you’re not alone. Within the group setting you recognize that others are struggling with similar emotions and circumstances. The natural structure of group therapy facilitates the giving and receiving of support when sharing our most traumatic experiences. We get the support that we should have received when the trauma occurred. This allows you to restructure your thoughts and feelings surrounding the trauma and start the path to healing. When you feel good about helping others, or feel heard yourself, your brain releases dopamine into your body. Even the anticipation of give and take can be enough to raise dopamine levels. Group therapy gives you a voice. It’s a place where you can be genuine in thoughts and feelings. It sets the example of how healthy and supportive relationships should be, thus helping each member relate to others in healthier ways. There’s not enough space to mention the many great and immediate benefits of the group therapy dynamic. Try one for yourself. You will not be disappointed.
My groups are usually small and consist of no more than 8 people. Prior to joining group, a group intake session is necessary to determine fit. The group intake session is 50 minutes in length and $60.
Actual group rates vary from $50-60/per session.
